The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that attracts so many people into the National Football League

This outcome could have created things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their eight and two competitors

Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award

The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen try too much or was it just a bad day for Buffalo?

Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Buffalo team to answer

The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance

MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - yes Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the league's top offences

Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores

Bottling up the NFL's top running game was crucial too, with Cook and teammates recording just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than half their 161.5 yard average

Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area meaning a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to seven points just two plays

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defense and Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this season

The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed

Speaking of the New England, they're one of three different eight and two squads in the NFL, all AFC teams, but could they be the best?

You can pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 victories achieved against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Broncos

Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their prime time win in Orchard Park seems like a declaration

Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight victories, just like Denver, since then - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was significant

Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns credit for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his team to success

The defensive unit is reliable and first-year rusher Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth runner to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his initial touchdown

While you can argue who 'the best' is statistically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against Buffalo

Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the fixture list

The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to face. There's a long way to travel but the opportunity is open for a surprise number one position in the AFC

Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Clash

Two teams with solid claims to be superior to all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who each scored 40 burgers to reach seven and two ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the pair in Los Angeles

They've both won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a contest

Both could easily be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score

The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely among the best sides in the NFL

The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date
