Cars in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers mentioned they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
