Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but will the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend football side," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be fairly close, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.
A family member told me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
Their performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.
But I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
