The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.
